Native to Mexico and Central America , Tillandsia ionantha ‘fuego’ is a colorful Ionantha that displays red blushing leaves when exposed to bright indirect sunlight. It is normally green with a tinge of red but turns bright red throughout the entire plant in winter in its blooming cycle. To keep the plant red, grow it with plenty of indirect sun or give it direct sun for 1-3 hours a day. This variety is known for being a quick grower, and as it matures will create many "pups" which will eventually clump into a ball like formation.
